At Decatur we believe football is more than a sport. It is a vehicle for developing disciplined, accountable, mentally tough young men who are prepared for life beyond high school. Every athlete who enters this program is challenged to grow - not only as a player, but as a student, teammate, leader, and member of the community.

Through mentorship, leadership development, academic excellence, community service, and player development, Decatur Football is committed to building young men of character and purpose.

Leadership

The foundation for the program’s resurgence was established under Coach Matt Vaenna through consistency, belief, and culture. Now, under Head Coach Evan Cook — a Federal Way native, former national champion at Eastern Washington University, and Defensive Coordinator during Decatur’s rise, the program continues to build toward a bigger vision. That vision is rooted in discipline, accountability, brotherhood, service, and pride in representing the Decatur community.

Today, the program has produced collegiate athletes, back-to-back historic seasons, and the first league championship in school history. But the growth of Decatur Football has always been about more than wins and losses.
