Uso Olive
A proud product of the Federal Way community, Uso Olive has built his life and career around giving back to the city that helped shape him. A graduate of Federal Way High School Class of 2014, Olive was one of the most dominant defensive linemen in Washington state during his high school career and has since become one of the foundational leaders behind the rise of Decatur High School football.
As a standout player at Federal Way, Olive earned First Team All-State honors and established himself as one of the premier defensive line prospects in the Pacific Northwest. He helped lead the Eagles to an undefeated regular season and deep playoff run while building a reputation for physicality, toughness, and elite strength. Olive later signed with the University of Wyoming, competing at the Division I FBS level in the Mountain West Conference before continuing his collegiate career at Central Washington University.
During his time at Central Washington, Olive emerged as one of the top defensive linemen in the conference, earning GNAC Newcomer of the Year honors and First Team All-Conference recognition while helping anchor one of the nation’s top defensive fronts. His college career, combined with years of high-level competition, helped shape the technical knowledge, discipline, and relentless work ethic that now define his coaching style.
Coach Olive first joined the Decatur football staff in 2021 and quickly became one of the program’s most impactful figures both in the weight room and on the field. As the team’s Strength and Conditioning Coach and defensive line coach, Olive helped establish a culture centered on accountability, physical preparation, discipline, and competitive toughness. The physical identity that has defined recent Decatur teams has been heavily influenced by his demanding standards and player-first mentorship.
Following his arrival at Decatur, Olive expanded his impact in the performance training world through his work with Ford Sports Performance (FSP), where he continues to train and mentor athletes throughout the region. His work with Ford Sports Performance has further strengthened his expertise in strength development, speed training, injury prevention, and athlete preparation, while also deepening his connections within the Pacific Northwest football community.
After taking a year away from the program, Coach Olive returns to the Gators for the 2026 season, bringing back his energy, leadership, and experience to a program he helped build. His return adds another respected voice and mentor to a coaching staff committed to continuing Decatur’s rise within the NPSL and across Washington high school football.
In addition to overseeing strength and performance development, Olive serves as the program’s Recruiting Liaison. Drawing from his own experience navigating both Division I and Division II football, he works tirelessly to help Decatur student-athletes understand the recruiting process, connect with college programs, and pursue opportunities beyond high school football. His mentorship has helped multiple Gators gain exposure at the collegiate level.
As a defensive line coach, Olive is widely respected for his ability to teach leverage, hand placement, physicality, and trench play fundamentals. His defensive fronts have consistently played with toughness and discipline, helping establish the aggressive style of football that has become synonymous with recent Decatur teams.
Outside of athletics, Coach Olive continues to impact students daily as a Marketing teacher at Decatur High School. Deeply invested in the success of Federal Way youth, he is known throughout the school community as a mentor who values relationships, accountability, and helping students grow into confident leaders both on and off the field.
Coach Olive’s return for the 2026 season reunites Decatur football with one of its most respected mentors — a coach whose playing pedigree, commitment to player development, and dedication to the Federal Way community continue to make a lasting impact on the next generation of Gators.
