Clark Colvin

Coach Colvin is a Decatur High School alum who has come full circle, returning to the program that shaped him and transforming it into one of the most dynamic offensive teams in the NPSL. A proud graduate of the Class of 2010 and a former player under Head Coach Leon Hatch, Coach Colvin rejoined the Gator program during the shortened spring 2021 COVID season and has been one of the driving forces behind the rise of Decatur football that has captured the attention of the entire South Sound football community.
Colvin began his coaching career at Decatur as the Quarterbacks Coach and Special Teams Coordinator, quickly distinguishing himself as someone with a sharp football mind. Stepping into the Offensive Coordinator role during a crucial rebuilding period, he helped engineer one of the most dramatic turnarounds in school history. After the 2021 campaign saw the Gators ranked last among all 4A programs in the WIAA RPI rankings, he transformed the offense into one of the most explosive and consistent in the NPSL, due to his ability to simplify complex concepts and develop young players.
Under Coach Colvin’s direction, Decatur has averaged an impressive 37 points per game over the last three seasons and has finished top 2 in the NPSL in total offense, passing offense, and rushing offense each year—a sustained standard of excellence that reflects both his scheme and his ability to develop players. His offenses have helped lead Decatur to the school’s first league championship after an undefeated regular season and first WIAA State Playoff appearance in school history. These milestones represent a new era for Golden Gator football.
The individual success of his players speaks just as loudly. During his tenure as Offensive Coordinator, Decatur offensive players have earned 24 All-League selections, 2-1st Team Tacoma News Tribune All-Area honors, and 1 WSFCA All-State selection. Coach Colvin is known for his aggressive offensive philosophy, detailed preparation, commitment to a physical downhill rushing attack, and mutual trust with his players. Coach Colvin has earned a reputation as a coach who competes fearlessly in critical moments, develops confident competitors, and high-character young men.
Beyond the sideline, Coach Colvin continues to invest deeply in the Federal Way community. After serving as Athletic Director at Tyee High School for two years, he returned to the classroom within FWPS, reinforcing a lifelong commitment to mentoring and supporting young people within his community - both in the classroom and on the field. As a Decatur alum leading the next generation of Gators, he's proud to be a central part of a program that has grown to reflect toughness, discipline, family, and community, but is also shaping young men who are prepared for life after high school, whatever path they may choose. For Coach Colvin, the true measure of the program's success is the impact it continues to make on the lives of its players long after Friday nights are over.
