Brad Clay

Brad Clay is an Ohio native whose football journey took him through the collegiate level as a running back, where he developed the physicality, instincts, and football intelligence that now inform his approach to coaching. He has been a fixture in the coaching community since 2017, consistently bringing both technical expertise and personal investment to the programs he serves.

At Decatur, Coach Clay wears multiple hats with equal effectiveness. On the field, he coaches the linebacker and running back positions with a keen eye for detail—teaching gap discipline and downhill physicality to defenders, and developing patient, decisive runners in the backfield. Off the field, he serves as the program's Academic Success Coordinator, a role that reflects something he genuinely believes: that a young man's future matters more than any single play or any single season. He holds his players to standards in the classroom the same way he holds them to standards on the field, and he does it as their history teacher too, so the relationship runs deep on both sides of the building.

Coach Clay has also been a fixture in the Decatur wrestling program for years, coaching a sport that demands mental toughness and individual accountability in ways that translate directly to football. His commitment to both programs speaks to the kind of coach he is.
